On the afternoon of September 20, Prof. Shuping Shi, a distinguished alumna of the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and Professor from the Department of Economics, Macquarie University, Australia, gave an enlightening talk on the topic of “Navigating Through an Academic Career: Experiences, Challenges, and Strategies for Success” to graduate students of the College of Economics, Xiamen University.
Prof. Shuping Shi, master’s student of WISE Class 2005 (when WISE was just established), studied at Singapore Management University in 2006 for a dual master’s degree, and headed for the Australian National University to pursue a PhD in Economics in 2008. She is now a Professor at Macquarie University. She joined Macquarie University as a Senior Lecturer in 2014, and her previous position was with the Australian National University as a Lecturer (2011-2014).
She has published in top-tier academic journals, including Management Science, Journal of Econometrics, International Economic Review, Econometric Theory, Journal of Financial Econometrics, and Journal of Banking and Finance.
